Paulo Fohlin



Paulo has extensive and continuous experience of dispute resolution as an attorney since 1988, when he earned his Jur kand (LL M, Master of Laws) from Uppsala University in Sweden and started working at one of Scandinavia’s largest law firms, Advokatfirman Vinge. He became a long-standing partner at Vinge until co-founding Advokatfirman Odebjer Fohlin with Kristian Odebjer in Hong Kong in 2011. Paulo first spent some time in Hong Kong in 1990, at Vinge’s Hong Kong office, and he moved to Hong Kong in 2007 to take up the position as Vinge’s resident partner in Hong Kong.

Paulo’s long experience covers a variety of industry sectors. He acts as arbitrator, counsel and adviser in international disputes, including commercial arbitration and investment treaty disputes. Since 1999, in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s Leading Litigation Lawyers, Paulo has regularly been recognised in international dispute resolution directories. He is recognised in, inter alia, the Global Arbitration Review GAR 30 list 2009 – 2011 at Vinge and the GAR 100 list 2012 and 2013 at Odebjer Fohlin. In 2012 he was given the award Commercial Arbitrator of the Year Hong Kong by Acquisition International Magazine.

Paulo is a member of, inter alia, the Swedish Bar Association (Sveriges Advokatsamfund), that is an Advokat, and a foreign lawyer registered with the Hong Kong Law Society. He is a Chartered Arbitrator and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), holding a diploma in international arbitration (DiplCArb). Paulo is included on the Panels of Arbitrators of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA), the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), the Shanghai International Arbitration Centre (SHIAC), and Weihai Arbitration Commission.
